New research is dispelling the old myth that monolingual children have an advantage over children who grown up speaking two languages. The reason is that children who actively use two languages have more active minds since the brain is always sorting out different input and output signals. The report suggests that children should be encouraged to learn multiple languages from an early age. The report can be read in full at NPR:
